idea for high level adventuring

Anyone ever thought of sequels to adventures that have devasting or heinous end games? For instance, What Evil Lurks 2 would begin as adventurers enter the accursed midnight realm. Or, how about facing the clockwork golems in Seige of Durgams Folly 2 or the crystaline creature hoard of the Diamond Fortress 2. Such evil would brook attention from other entities both evil and good. These would be high level adventures. They arise simply because a previous party failed to stop the horror.
